Opus Jazz Club Israel Jazz Spring 2020

Spring starts early this year with warm winds bringing sophisticated jazz music from the Mediterranean Sea. Opus Jazz Club hosts the Israel Jazz Spring for the very first time with five top-notch bands presenting the delicious flavours of Israeli Jazz between February 5 and May 23, 2020.

Liran Donin's 1000 Boats land at Opus on February 5. The Israeli born bass player, producer and composer is currently touring his debut album 8 Songs which made it to the 10 best jazz albums of 2018 according to both The Guardian as well as Jazzwise.

Hailed as one of the great musical thinkers of our time, Oded Tzur returns to Budapest on February 25 with his quartet. Tzur is a master of microtones who draws influence from the art of storytelling and explores relationships between ancient and modern musical traditions.

Arriving from New York on March 11, Daniel Zamir is one of the great visionaries of Israeli jazz, mixing traditional Hasidic music with Indian and West African rhythms and much more. At Opus Jazz Club, Zamir will join forces with the 21-year old shooting star guitarist, Nitzan Bar.

On April 22, the charismatic bass player and composer Shay Hazan reveals his quintet's volcanic powers harnessed from the intersection of jazz, gnawa, hiphop, the Chicago free jazz scene of the 1960s and Israeli music.

The closing notes will be provided by the Argentine-born Israeli bass player from New York, Eden Bareket and his trio on May 23. The sparse outfit forgoes harmonic instruments and still manages to turn night into day with the groovy compositions from their album Night.
