This program is a fringe event of "Anno 2004..." concert as well as part of the mustMEET Composers series. Peter Eötvös and our composer guests Vykintas Baltakas (Lithuania), Genoël von Lilienstern (Germany) and Dai Fujikura (Japan) are invited to take part in an introductory discussion from 6:00 pm.

Established in 2004, the Péter Eötvös Contemporary Music Foundation prepares workshops for conductors, composers, musicologists and dramaturges, and undertakes the representation of talented young artists. It also seeks to function as an international centre for information. Several of the composers they supported over the past ten years are now key artists of new music. The composers of the works played at the anniversary concert certainly are.

The compositions of the multiple award-winning Lithuanian Vykintas Baltakas, the Japanese Dai Fujikura and the German Genoël von Lilienstern are performed on all continents, in the most prestigious concert halls of the world. Their works are on the repertoire of not only the leading performers of modern music (such as the Ensemble Modern, the Asko Ensemble, the Klangforum Wien and the Ensemble Intercontemporain) but also of such symphonic orchestras as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Wielding the baton at the anniversary concert is Ulrich Pöhl, currently one of Europe’s most sought-after conductors. Pöhl, who can be considered a specialist of the latest music, has been responsible for the world premiere of more than 300 compositions, and a great number of radio and CD recordings.

The public meeting is hosted by Ditta Rohmann
