For 300 years Johann Sebastian Bach has been a source of inspiration and consolation to musicians and music lovers alike. He is arguably the most influential composer of all times. His music is the key to understanding and appreciating all classical music. Bach Bridges will introduce a series of interconnected music festivals across Europe. Bach’s music forms the centre of the musical programming, but it will be presented in relation to music of his contemporaries.

The first program of Bach Bridges Budapest highlights the virtuosic, maybe even frivolous side of Bach. It is contrasted by a rarely played cello concerto by his talented son Carl Philipp Emmanuel Bach and a new work by Iván Fischer which has been commissioned by Bach Bridges. After it’s première on April 15th in the International Bach Festival of Gran Canaria this will be the first performance in Hungary.
