Bálint Horváth (born 1986, Budapest) composer, teacher. He is currently a teacher in composition at the Weiner Conservatory in Budapest and an associate professor at the Partium Christian University in Oradea. He was a pupil of István Fekete Győr at the Béla Bartók Secondary School of Music, and of György Orbán at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music. He received his Honors Degree in 2010. Later he was a student at the university’s doctoral school, defending his DLA in 2016. His scientific and creative work was supervise by László Vikárius, Zoltán Jeney, József Soproni and Adrian Pop during a part-time training at the Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca. He wrote his Ph.D. thesis on the work of Romanian kolinda composers.
His pieces written for solo, chamber music, symphonic orchestra and stage were performed at all major Hungarian contemporary music forums. Vocal genres play an important role in his composing activities. The program of the present concert is a selection of chamber works and songs written in recent years. His work was supported by the NKA Creative Fellowship.
