Black String, a borderless contemporary music band based on Korean traditional music and improvisational music kind of jazz, is making its debut at the BMC this May.

Black String, comprising four members playing Korean traditional strings (Geomun-go), bamboo flute  (Daegeum), percussion and electric guitars, has been well appreciated by broad world music audience with its unique sound and musical language created through Asian intuition and musical idiom. It aims to seek a new sound that can internalize a variety of musical expression in traditional music, as well as harmonize with other expression in world music. Since 2011, it has been successfully touring the world-renowned festivals and venues, including London Jazz Festival (UK), Jarasum International Jazz Festival (Korea), Jazz sous les Pommiers (France), Penang Island Jazz Festival (Malaysia), Oslo World Music Festival (Norway) and Womex 16 Official Selection (Spain). Amplified and burst sound of Geomun-go, fierce quake of Korean traditional percussion, and unpredictable melody of jazz guitar will grasp all your senses.
