Following his highly successful album of 2006, Nostalgia – Songs for Tarkovsky, and the solo piano record of 2009, Un jour si blanc, François Couturier released Tarkovsky Quartetin 2011. Inspired by films and filmmakers, the composer’s music is an exciting fusion of the discipline and forms of classical music, and free improvisation along the association of ideas. In addition to the great Russian director, such filmmakers now also form the focus of his latest compositions as Akira Kurosawa, Luchino Visconti and Ingmar Bergman.
