The cooperation of Cape Verde-born guitarist Tcheka and Portuguese pianist and composer Mário Laginha is based on friendship and a mutual respect between their musical worlds. Tcheka’s individual and special style arose under countless influences, while Mário Laginha is a pivotal jazz musician of Portugal; as the partner of singer Maria João, he has recorded more than a dozen albums, and has taken part in countless European tours.

Tcheka’s music is an astonishingly exciting fusion of folk music from Cape Verde, itself extremely rich in genres and styles (batuku, funaná, finason, tabanka, morna, coladera), and Caribbean, Brazilian and African pop, jazz, blues and rock. His fifth album features Mário Laginha, and the new songs give full benefit to his splendid guitar playing and unmistakable vocals.
