Started in October 2014, mustMEET Composers is a series that presents seminal artists of contemporary music, with such world-famous names among the guests as Michel van der Aa, Pēteris Vasks, and Helmut Lachenmann. During the CAFe Budapest festival, the guest will be one of the most prominent figures of contemporary Polish music, who will talk about his career and works.

As a representative of sonorism, Krzysztof Penderecki set out a completely new direction in contemporary European music. His avant-garde search for directions was fascinating as he did not shrink from using sounds from the borderland between art and life, incorporating noises, rattling sounds, the screech of a saw and the clatter of a typewriter.

At this evening, Penderecki’s music can be heard live, as well as from recordings, and a film will also offer insights into his oeuvre.

The programme is free but you are kindly requested to register in advance at info@cafebudapestfest.hu
