19:30
Concert Hall
The concert of UMZE Chamber Ensemble congratulates two outstanding figures of contemporary Hungarian music, Péter Eötvös and László Vidovszky, both celebrating their 70th birthdays in the beginning of 2014.
Their musical careers and attitudes towards composing coincide at several points, starting with their studies at the Ferenc Liszt Music Academy, through common activities in the famous New Music Studio, being its founding members among other composers in 1970, their studies in experimental and electronic music, up to their activities of present day.
The festive concert is greeting Eötvös and Vidovszky not only by interpreting one important work by each of them, but through Hungarian premieres of a Stockhausen and a Messiaen piece it presents also the contemporary European musical context which had a stimulating effect to both Eötvös’ and Vidovszky’s oeuvre.
