A height of 157 centimeters, with a tendency for obesity, bad eyesight, and not many fans - yet today, Schubert may well be the most beloved composer. He wrote more than 1000 pieces: songs, quartets, symphonies, operas, masses and various piano works. All composed during a very short lifetime: Schubert only lived 31 years - even Mozart outlived him. To this day, the dual nature heard in his music, his contradictory personality, his tendency for unsurpassed joy and extreme despair together makes many people curious. The Budapest Strings Chamber Orchestra presents this concert series to get closer to Schubert's personality through his Symphony No. 5, the Mass in G Major, and the string ensemble version of his famous quartet, Death and the Maiden.
