Daniel Erdmann plays the saxophone since 1983. After finishing his studies in 1999 at the Hanns Eisler Hochschule für Musik in Berlin he received a grant from the French-German Cultural Coucil in 2001. Since then he shuttles between Paris and Berlin. Daniel has performed all over the world, including major festivals in Berlin, Paris, New York, Lisbon, Rotterdam etc. and appears on numerous CD-Recordings. Under his own name he has released CDs on Enja Records, ACT, INTAKT. He is co-founder and member of the trio DAS KAPITAL, who played with tremendous success in January 2014 at the Opus Jazz Club. The project Daniel Erdmann - Samuel Rohrer “ten songs about real utopia” with Frank Möbus & Vincent Courtois, who were performing in September last year at the Opus Jazz Club in the GoetheJazz series, received the German Critics Prize. Latest news is that Daniel was recently nominated for the ECHO JAZZ 2016 prize.

Erdmann has worked with Aki Takase, Ed Schuller, John Schröder, Linda Sharrock, Joachim Kühn, Yves Robert, Conny Bauer, Gebhard Ullmann, Vincent Courtois, André Minvielle, Louis Sclavis, Heinz Sauer, Frank Möbus, Herb Robertson, Tony Buck, Axel Dörner, John Betsch, Rudi Mahall, Pierre Dörge, Joe Williamson, Hans Hassler, Hasse Poulsen, Peter Kowald, Paul Brody, Chris Dahlgren and many more.

Daniel Erdmann created his new trio in 2015, with the outstanding young Théo Ceccaldi (“révélation 2014” of Jazz Magazine“) on violin and viola and Jim Hart on vibraphone, one of the most musicians in demand on the European scene. The music is entirely new, composed by Daniel Erdmann for this very special line up. Following their concert at the Opus the trio stays to record their debut album at the BMC studio, planned for release on BMC Records in the fall 2016.
