Deus Ex Quartet, with outstanding musicians of the local underground scene, is one of the most promising experimental Hungarian jazz outfits of the present. The members have known each other since their childhood – Kristóf Velsz and the Csernovszky brothers belong to the same family, actually – and this natural harmony among them is strengthened by the fact that all of them are contributing also as composers in the music of the quartet.
Founded in Budapest in 2016, Deus Ex’s music blends with surprising naturalness classical and folk music with improvisational jazz. In their pieces, we can find elements taken from drum’n’bass, contemporary jazz, Hungarian folk music, drone metal, contemporary music or bossanova, all organically integrated into the structure of their compositions. After three years of existence, the band released their debut in January 2019, in the form of an EP trilogy, containing discs of different concepts, entitled Vein Blossom, Deep Sea and Horus.
Their debut at the Opus certainly promises to be one of the highlights of the club’s December concerts.
This concert is supported by NKA Hangfoglaló Program.
