Péter Eötvös: DoReMi - concert recording, featuring Patricia Kopatchinskaja and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Péter Eötvös

From November 2015 a new series takes it start at the BMC Library. Selecting from the program of the Digital Concert Hall, brought to life by the Berlin Philhamonic Orchestra, live concert-broadcasts and archive footages will equally appear on the program. Needless to say: as one of the world’s leading symphony orchestras the Berlin Philharmonic’s new season will present great artists like Zubin Mehta, Sir John Eliot Gardiner and Daniel Barenboim, along with Music Director Sir Simon Rattle. In addition to the prestigious cast of performers, the excellent audiovisual quality is also guaranteed: HD videos through the eight remote-controlled HD cameras in the Concert Hall of the Berlin Philharmonic, and the CD-like sound quality through BMC’s Avantgarde Acoustic sound system.

First guest of the series – supported by the Budapest Goethe Institute – will be Péter Eötvös, who has chosen one of his own compositions “DoReMi” performed by Patricia Kopatchinskaja as soloist at the composer's “birthday-concert” on the 13th September 2014.

“I have always dreamed of playing contemporary music with the world's most outstanding musicians. And behold, my dream has come true! This piece is simply awesome! All violinist should play it once ... amazing discovery - a gift from Peter Eötvös'!”- said the Moldovan-born violinist abot the composition. It's not the first example of their successfull collaboration: their CD – presenting the compositions of Bartók, Ligeti and Eötvös – was nominated for the 2012 Grammy-Awards in the category “Best Classical Albzum of the Year”.

Prior to the screeing we can enjoy a lecture by Péter Eötvös.

Entry to the program is free, but due to the limited number of seats a primary registration via e-mail ([email protected]) is requested, latest by 26th November, 2015. Thanks for your understanding!
