On 2 May, during the 24th Mediawave Festival, the Grencsó Collective, supplemented with viola player Szilárd Mezei, played a tribute concert to pianist-composer György Szabados, the legendary figure of Hungarian improvised music, who passed 3 years ago. On their program they have performed Szabados’ most important, emblematic early pieces, like The Wedding, Adyton, or Supplication. The project wasn’t planned for a one-time-concert, the date of its Budapest debut at the Opus was fixed also from the beginning.
Those who were there lately at the Collective’s album debut concert at the Opus, would definitely know what to expect on the present concert as well, as the influence and spirit of Szabados is evidently an essential component of the group’s open compositions and musical attitude.
Tickets are available for 1000 HUF on the spot, in the national JEGYPONT network of Interticket and online at JEGY.HU.
Seating at the Opus jazz Club can only be guaranteed in case of a table reservation.
