One of the best and most respected jazz singers in Slovakia, Hanka Gregusova ended up singing jazz thanks to her stay in Washington D.C. and the musicians that influenced her during this time. Upon her return from the USA she was invited to perform with the trio of one of the best jazz pianists in Slovakia, Gabriel Jonáš. In 2007 she released her debut CD Reflections of my soul, produced by Radovan Tariška, the outstanding saxophonist of the Slovak jazz scene who has been performing lately at the Opus with huge success. At present she is finishing her second solo CD, paying tribute to Slovak folklore, arranged sensitively to jazz, produced by virtuoso Slovak jazz pianist and composer Ondrej Krajňák who will be a key person on the present concert, besides long-time partners Tomáš Baroš on double bass and Marián Ševčík on drums.
The special guest, Eric Wyatt, is an extraordinary talented tenor saxophone player belonging to the worldwide top jazz league. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NYC, he was introduced to the saxophone by his father Charles Wyatt, who played tenor and hung out with many of the great jazz icons like Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk or Dizzy Gillespie. Young Eric had the privilege to meet jazz masters like Miles Davis or his godfather, Sonny Rollins. The latter also helped him to record his first CD God Son, featuring Al Foster on drums, Rufus Reid on bass and pianist Mark Soskin. Eric has been recording and traveling the world both as leader and sideman and continues to build an impressive, solid resume. He has played with and recorded on records with Kenny Garrett, Wynton Marsalis, Roy Hargrove, Branford Marsalis, Bob Cranshaw, James Spaulding, Monty Alexander, Benito Gonzales & many others.
