Krisztián Oláh's music is equally rooted in classical compositional techniques and the improvisational, abstract rhythms of contemporary jazz. His central artistic drive is the organic synthesis of these two worlds, shaping a dynamic, lively vision of contemporary music. His most important musical project, the Krisztián Oláh Quartet uniquely blends composition and improvisation into a coherent artistic language. The band consists of leading figures of Hungarian jazz, contemporary and alternative music scenes. While their programme is built around the bandleader's compositions, all members are outstanding improvisers. As a result, spontaneous and collective improvisation forms an essential part of their performances, carrying the spirit and musical vocabulary of our time, and shaping a fresh, complex sound for the quartet.
