MAO Exclusive - Compositions by Attila Korb
21:00
Opus Jazz Club
Modern Art Orchestra
Artistic leader: Kornél Fekete-Kovács
Trombone player Attila Korb, one of the founding members of MAO, has written arrangements for the orchestra several times, but this is the first occasion ever when he presents his own compositions, on request of the leader Kornél Fekete-Kovács. “I regard myself an old-fashioned jazz musician. Beside MAO I am playing in several traditional groups, either as their member or as occasional musician, both at home and abroad.” the young trombonist says. His compositions, mostly in the Dixieland or ragtime idiom, will be now performed in big band arrangement, evoking the explosive energies of brass and marching bands of the New Orleans era, the “Golden Age of Jazz”. In today’s program, among others, we can enjoy the performance of Korb’s award-winning composition on a French musical competition, as well as his transcription of In The Dark written by determining musician of the Twenties, Bix Beiderbecke, a piece which was inspired by the European impressionists Debussy and Ravel. It is a fine example of bridging the early 20th century European and American art together.
Tickets are available for 1500 HUF on the spot, in the national JEGYPONT network of Interticket and online at JEGY.HU.
Seating at the Opus jazz Club can only be guaranteed in case of a table reservation.
