MAO Exclusive│Modern Art Orchestra plays the music of Pat Metheny
- Kornél Fekete-Kovács - art director
American jazz guitarist and composer Pat Metheny is one of the most influential artists of jazz, who has three gold albums, twenty Grammy Awards and more than twenty million sold albums worldwide. Bob Curnow as a composer and arranger has become well known for large ensemble jazz music, in 1994 his album presenting the music of Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays transcribed have been called a prime example of the art of arranging for big band jazz ensemble in a contemporary setting. The instrumentation differs drastically from Metheny's quartet and some of the pieces were originally very electric. Somehow these new renditions make the songs sound as if they were originally designed for the orchestra. This is an unusual, although very strong concept that somehow fits perfectly the Modern Art Orchestra with a surprising atmosphere.
