21:00
Opus Jazz Club
Mike Garson - piano Kornél Fekete-Kovács - trumpet Márton Soós - double bass László Csízi - drums “The best Rock Pianist in the World, because he does not play rock”, as David Bowie put it once, Mike Garson, now in his sixties, started his career as jazz musician. His openness was formed already from the beginning during his collaboration with saxophone player Dave Liebman in New York. Some other partners of him in jazz were Stanley Clarke, Elvin Jones, Lee Konitz, Stan Getz, or Freddie Hubbard just to name a few. Parallel to this he came also to fame for his capability for interchange between various styles. He’s just as famous as a classical pianist as the highly acclaimed keyboard player, arranger and composer of David Bowie’s group or as a collaborator with Nine Inch Nails or The Smashing Pumpkins. A very active musician and prolific composer, he signs more than 4000 compositions. Tonight the quartet with him and MAO’s three musicians performs pieces from Garson’s 2011 release The Bowie Variations .
