Program

Márton Juhász Quartet (AR/PL/US/HU)

First time at the Opus
20:00
Opus Jazz Club
Featuring:
  • Sergio Wagner - trumpet, flugelhorn
  • Szymon Mika - guitar
  • Danny Ziemann - double bass
  • Márton Juhász - drums

The four musicians met as part of the very first Focusyear program in Basel 2017-18. They are featured on Marton's 2019 album, Discovery, which received ample praise from critics and artists alike: “Some of the songs have a lyrical starting point but quickly develop enormous momentum. Then there are gorgeous mood pieces such as the mysterious and intense Wolves gather under a winter moon. Like I said: a Discovery” – wrote Ssirus W. Pakzad in the German magazine, JazzThing. Marton Juhasz – who graduated summa cum laude from Berklee College of Music, Boston in 2011 – is a regular performer of the Opus Jazz Club, will play here at the very first time with this international quartet, uniting the jazz conception of the different continents.
