Modern Art Orchestra and Mike Garson
19:30
Concert Hall
This season, Modern Art Orchestra will continuously introduce composers whose activities induced a convergence between classical music and jazz. Besides local contemporaries, works of George Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Stan Kenton and Gil Evans will be on MAO’s scheduled program.
Soloist of MAO’s season opening concert will be Mike Garson, an American artist famous of his openness, uniqueness and ability for interchange between various styles. The pianist and composer Garson, now in his sixties, started his career as jazz musician. His openness was formed already in the beginning in New York during his collaboration with saxophone player Dave Liebman. Since then his name became well-known in the most different genres, as a classical pianist or the highly acclaimed keyboard player, arranger and composer of David Bowie’s group. A very active musician and prolific composer he signs more than 4000 compositions.
