- Miklós Lukács – dulcimer
- Modern Art Orchestra
- Art director: Kornél Fekete-Kovács
‘Cimbalom big band’ is unprecedented in the history of the big band as orchestral form. Composer and saxophone player Kristóf Bacsó, member of Modern Art Orchestra, realised this particular idea by writing his new piece Restringed Music - Suite for Cimbalom and Jazz Orchestrato be premiered on the present concert. Elements of contemporary music are present in the piece along with the characteristic sound of contemporary jazz. The composition is interwoven with the heritage of Bartók and sort of a Central-Eastern European feeling.
Elements, written by Kornél Fekete-Kovács in 2012, was dedicated to the composer’s grandfather, a cimbalom player himself. The piece, written by Kornél especially for the cimbalom artist Miklós Lukács, uses the wide potential of the instrument in three movements. The piece was rearranged couple of times since then, its present arrangement by Gábor Subicz will be first performed on the present concert. The presence of Miklós Lukács as soloist brings the performance to perfection.
