The public meeting is scheduled to the 15th of June at 6:30 PM in BMC Library. During this open meeting the public could have a better understaning of how Manoury and Pintscher think about composing and what is their special connection to Pierre Boulez. The moderator will be Gregory Vajda and the talk is also attended by Péter Eötvös.
„The Hungarian music history shows it quite explicitly that a great composer’s visit to Budapest had always a special importance (Debussy, Mahler, Strauss, Stravinsky). Maybe it is not recognised immediately but the great effect of these personal presences could be realised later. That is why I find it extremely important that the Hungarian public and the professionals could meet these great composers.” (Péter Eötvös)
Philippe Manoury (1952) was invited to the most important comtemporary music festivals from a very young age and his music is strongly influenced by Pierre Boulez, Karlheinz Stockhausen and Iannis Xenakis. Since the 1980s, Manoury has been closely associated with the American computer researcher Miller Puckette. They develeoped the method of combining acoustic music with computer technology. In his latest works the Human voice has the leadning role and is combined with video and electronic effects.
Matthias Pintscher (1971) is one of the most talented young German composers and his first conducting professor was Péter Eötvös. From 2012 he is the musical director of Ensemble Intercontemporain and from 2014 he works as professor of composing at the Juilliard School.
