Composers’ competition New Hungarian Music Forum (NHMF) is organized by Budapest Music Center and Palace of Arts for the third time. This time it is dedicated to the memory of György Ligeti, on occasion of the 90th anniversary of his birth. The primary aim of NHMF is to motivate and support the creation of new musical pieces as well as to establish a stable collaboration between young composers and chamber/symphonic orchestras in order to make new music popular.
The competition, in categories for chamber music and for large symphonic orchestra, was open for everybody under 40, declaring him- or herself Hungarian. After the semi-final, 4-4 pieces in both categories were selected by the jury at their closed session to the finals. The chosen pieces will be performed at gala concerts for the public: chamber pieces on 25th September 7 p.m. at the Budapest Music Center, while pieces for large orchestra on 26th September 7 p.m. at the Palace of Arts, performed by Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Gergely Vajda, latter concert broadcasted live by MR3 Bartók Radio.
After the last performance at the Palace of Arts, the jury withdraws and following their decision the awards ceremony will take place.
