Nikoletta Szőke “B” Version Project

Opus Jazz Club
Nikoletta Szőke - vocals Gábor Bolla - saxophone Balázs Pecze - trumpet Dávid Lamm - guitar, vacals, rap Róbert Szakcsi Lakatos - piano József Barcza Horváth - bass guitar Márton Juhász - drums Due to its large lineup, “B” Version Project, featuring a lesser known side of the wonderful singer Nikoletta Szőke, appears relatively seldom before the public. Music of the septet mixes 60s-70s funk, especially Motown-sound, with elements of contemporary R’n’B, hip-hop and jazz. Contrary to the lyric and melodic tunes of the Nikoletta Szőke Quartet, in “B” Project’s music pulsing and strongly rhythmic elements come to the fore. Though some constant fellow-musicians of Nikoletta are contributing in the project as well, this time Róbert Szakcsi Lakatos switches to the electric piano from the acoustic and József Barcza Horváth puts his double bass aside to play on bass guitar. One of the most sought-after young musicians, Márton Juhász is playing on drums and guitarist Dávid Lamm can show besides his excellent instrumental skills, his vocal talent as well, colouring the program with some rap. A wind section consisting of saxophonist Gábor Bolla and noteworthy trumpeter Balázs Pecze enrich the sound of the project. Besides some standards the repertoire is built up mostly of own common compositions, with Hungarian lyrics written by Nikoletta.
