Éva Osztrosits’s solo violin concert will focus on a dialogue between Telemann’s Fantasies and contemporary solo works. Telemann’s Fantasies are shining gems of the solo violin repertoire, in which the diversity of musical expression is just as evident as in the contemporary pieces to be performed at the concert. Through the compositions of György Kurtág, Máté Balogh, Péter Tornyai and Márton Illés, different worlds are revealed to the audience; through their contrast with the Baroque works, they offer an even broader perspective on musical expression.

Péter Tornyai’s Stolperstein commemorates the victims of the Holocaust – as the title suggests, which in Hungarian means ‘stumbling stone’, that is, a small memorial plaque set into the pavement. Five pieces from György Kurtág’s Signs, Games and Messages will also be performed, organised into a new cycle. Márton Illés’s Én-kör IV is a revised version of a composition from 2023, which presents the performer with a particularly great technical challenge: it is a fragile, timbre-oriented work, constructed chiefly from noises and effects, as well as alternative playing techniques. Máté Balogh’s BABEuropeL Duo will receive its world premiere, with the composer himself joining Éva Osztrosits for the performance.
