He acted as a soloist at The Leipzig Bach Festival on the world premiere of Voyage X by the great Japanese composer, Hosokava Toshio.

He gives lectures regularly, often with representatives of various genres. Tajima’s aim is to widen the general approach of view about the shakuhachi, by showing its versatility and huge expressive power.; for these efforts he was awarded several times.

The lecture will be about the bamboo flute’s sound and other characteristics, as well as about a variety of performance options with the instrument. The subsequent concert can give also an idea that this traditional instrument is not restricted to play only traditional shakuhachi pieces, but also to use it in many other genres and contemporary pieces.
