One of the most exciting European jazz vocalists with an exceptional voice and an overwhelming style, German singer/composer Michael Schiefel and his two band mates are telling stories about the platypus: their album was released on BMC Records in late April, recorded just three weeks before at BMC’s studio. Its material is made up of elements from a charming old aboriginal fable about this strange creature, a random joke of nature, which can’t be classified on usual terms. The music is a perfect symbiosis between Schiefel’s unique singing spiced with electronics and fine sense of humour, and the throughout lively, fresh, rhythmic driving force and very deep emotional expressions served by the unusual pairing of Jörg Brinkmann’s cello and the cimbalom of Miklós Lukács.
