Transparent Sound New Music Festival - Soundpainting workshop of Hada Benedito Mateo
- Hada Benedito Mateo - lecturer
Soundpainting is a multi-disciplinary sign language for live composition of music, theater, dance, and visual art conceived by New York composer Walter Thompson in the 70s. One of his students, Hada Benedito, created the first Soundpainting orchestra in Berlin in June 2011. Since then, they have performed not only as a concert orchestra, but also playing on silent movies.
We are really glad to host Hada Benedito during the Átlátszó Hang (Transparent Sound) New Music Festival. The festival has been a platform for promoting and understanding new music, and its connection with other artistic disciplines in Budapest since 2014. During four days, Hada Benedito will lead a three-hour workshop, free of charge, and she will perform in live with the participants to close the workshop. Starting from the basic signs on the first day, the group will gain more and more vocabulary throughout the sessions to extend the improvisation horizons. It is strongly recommended to attend every day of the workshop.
