The famous, XVIII. century court orchestra of Mannheim was described by Mozart as an army made up by only generals. In turn, Virtuosos Chamber Orchestra is a musical formation based on the interplay of soloists. Ten instruments: violins, flutes, clarinet, viola, cello, double bass and piano – who has ever heard such a line up? And yet, this is the formation what the resident composer, pianist and artistic director of the ensemble, Apor Szüts, dreamed of. From one hand, this is a bonsai tree-like mini orchestra, and an expanded string quartet on the other. The ensemble is capable of everything in Apor’s transcriptions: orchestral pieces, concertos, solo compositions are played in reflecting the original experience, but in a different way. Known artpieces, in a special musical reading.
