News 8th Polska Jazz Festival at Opus

Dear Opus Guests,
The original program of Polska Jazz has changed due to technical reasons. We regret to announce that neither the Wójciński / Szmańda Quartet nor Hang Em High will be visiting the Opus Jazz Club this year. We look forward to hosting those concerts at a later date and look forward to seeing you at the Roland Abreu & The Cuban Latin Jazz concert on November 7th from 8pm.

Polska Jazz Festival returns to Opus Jazz Club for the 8th consecutive year, giving a special sample of the ever-changing Polish jazz scene with some of its greatest performers on the 6th and 7th of November.

On November 6, we will hear Hang Em High, a project by three musicians of different nationalities. Bond – who is recognized worldwide for the unique approach to bass – in 2013 picked up a 2-string bass and together with Lucien Dubuis and Alfred Vogel formed Hang Em High. Most of their songs follow rock song structure. Bond and Vogel lay down libidinous rhythms that establish earthy themes while Dubuis’ clarinets provides the off-beat, raunchy, bent-note melodic lines that often soar into ecstatic improvised solos.

On November 7, Roland Abreu & The Cuban Latin Jazz international formation closes the Polska Jazz Festival. Roland Abreu & The Cuban Latin Jazz featuring International lineup presents a fusion of jazz music, Latin - Cuban rhythms, Cuban Afro, salsa and classical music performed by young highly accomplished musicians. The band's jazz bassist, composer and producer Roland Abreau was born in Havana and lived there until he was twenty – his passion, vision and virtuosity are the driving force behind The Cuban Latin Jazz. The formation’s second album was released this year: Roots leads to melancholic landscapes, but Latin passion pulsates in it in the same way.
