The Bendegúz Németh Quartet is a contemporary fusion ensemble based in Budapest, comprising young Hungarian musicians. In their instrumental music, the power of grooves, the flavour of funk, the emotional depth of the blues and the energy of rock meet the improvisational world of jazz – bridging the gap between improvisational music, which demands attention and active engagement, and music that is more accessible, entertaining and danceable.
Their programmes consist of original compositions based on fixed themes, forms and structures, whilst leaving plenty of scope for a playful, exploratory attitude and spontaneous musical communication. The friendship and musical bond between the four musicians makes every concert unique. The band’s aim is to combine the freedom and spontaneity of jazz with the immediacy of groove to create a live musical experience that not only offers captivating moments for jazz enthusiasts, but also allows listeners less familiar with the genre to connect with it easily.
The Bendegúz Németh Quartet is the winner of the special prize of Budapest Music Center at the 2026 Müpa Jazz Showcase.
