Featuring:
  • Krisztián Kocsis – piano

One of the most influential figures in 20th- and 21st-century Hungarian musical life, pianist, conductor and composer Zoltán Kocsis passed away on 6 November 2016. To mark the 10th anniversary of his death, we commemorate him with a solo concert by his son, pianist and composer Krisztián Kocsis. The carefully curated programme presents the many facets of the piano in a highly accessible way, while also offering an overview of the most significant aspects of Zoltán Kocsis’s legacy: alongside one original composition each by the elder and younger Kocsis, the programme features works by Bartók and Debussy – cornerstones of 20th-century piano literature –, and pieces by Chopin and Liszt evoke the great Romantic piano tradition.
