Glissonic is a brand new instrument developed by saxophonist Dániel Váczi and Tóbiás Terebessy in 2016. This intstrument does not produce sounds at intervals but rather in the manner of the human voice. The sound is produced by moving your hand up and down on a magnetic band that seamlessly closes a longitudinal opening on the instrument's body. Similar to a violin in technique, the instrument can play sounds at tone intervals of 1/8 and 1/16, and any other sound, but with the timbre of a wind instrument like a clarinet. The glissonic is only 5 years old but already composers have started to discover its new artistic possibilities as evidenced by this concert programme.
