Evelin Tóth Trió and Tuur Florizoone (B)

21:00
Opus Jazz Club
Evelin Tóth - vocals Gábor Juhász - guitar Péter Szalai - tabla Tuur Florizoone - accordion
The trio, led by Evelyn Tóth plays mostly own compositions, based often on Hungarian or international traditional material as sources. Melancholy of fado, emotions of flamenco are melting with elements of jazz, pop and world-music, creating thus their unmistakable sound, even in case of covering standards.
Evelin Tóth started singing at the age of seven. After her classical studies she specialised in a number of exotic techniques (South-Indian, North-African, Sephardic). Since then, she has worked out her own voice technique, and due to her unique, incomparable voice, her truly attracting stage presence and her outstanding acting talents she receives a number of invitations for the stage, recording studios and concert venues. Her 2010 solo album Let him kiss me with contribution of Hamid Drake, Mihály Dresch, László Fassang and Zoltán Lantos is one of the outstanding of her numerous releases.
The other members of the trio are tabla and cajon player Péter Szalai, the Ravi Shankar-pupil well-known from Mitsoura Group, Calcutta Trio, Tin-Tin Quartet and from different fusions of traditional Indian and jazz musicians; and guitarist Gábor Juhász, a key figure among Hungarian guitarists, whose BMC album with Palle Mikkelborg is just one of his many recordings.
The exclusive guest of the concert is the fabulous accordion player from Belgium, Tuur Florizoone, called simply as Yann Tiersen of his country.Still only 35, but contributed already on more than two dozen albums and his own groups (Tricycke, MixTuuer, etc.) are getting more and more successful on the international scene. Beside jazz he also takes part in different projects, like world-music, film soundtracks. One of his present groups Oliver’s Cinema, led by Dutch trumpet player Eric Vloeimans will perform at the Opus on 1st March.
