Everyday Classics: Evening Conversations - Last period of Beethoven. Myths and reality.
- János Mácsai - music historian
Music historian János Mácsai about compositions from Beethoven's last period
Music history regards the last few years of Beethoven, getting older, becoming more and more deaf, ill and lonesome, as an entirely separate period. The works dated that time are surrounded by an almost mythic atmosphere and a peculiar halo. Numerous essays, works in literature and fine arts were inspired by them, not to mention their effect on further history of music.
The presentation deals with the history of works from the period 1824-27. Joint presentation series of the 'Everyday Classics' blog and BMC.
