FAZIOLI Nights│Hans Lüdemann (D)

21:00
Opus Jazz Club
Featuring:
  • Hans Lüdemann - piano and virtual piano

“One of the most original and expressive European pianists” (Jazz Podium)
“Nothing sounds imitated, everything is extremely original, completely unique and masterful. Lüdemann’s musical language draws from familiar and known sources, but seems to belong exclusively to himself.” (Frankfurter Rundschau)
“In the music that Hans Lüdemann gives us, there are only moments of vitality that give us, if not hope, at least force. Because we can recognize ourselves within them, because they do not only seize us when we hear them, but, more than that, they appear to us as our own inventions. There are landscapes to travel, inventions to invent, memories to rediscover – a music one should not miss” (Michel Arcens, Notes des Jazz, France)

Hans Lüdemann, German piano virtuoso and ECHO award winner, is playing with different realities and showing new perspective in jazz solo piano improvisation, using acoustic and sampled piano sounds and opening musical spaces ‘between the keys’ and ‘beyond the tones’. He introduces his album das reale Klavier (BMC Records) that has received a lot of airplay in the US and was nominated for the the “Deutscher Schallplattenpreis 2016”.

Lüdemann has worked with outstanding artists like the late Paul Bley or Jan Garbarek. His own ensembles include collaborations with Marc Ducret and Mark Feldman as well as longtime projects with African musicians Aly Keita and Toumani Diabaté. Hans Lüdemann was ‘Cornell visiting professor’ at Swarthmore College (USA) in 2015/16 and is living as a freelance artist and composer near Köln, Germany.
