Lylit (Eva Klampfer) - vocals, piano
The next artist in Opus Jazz Club’s series featuring jazz from Austria is Eva Klampfer, an extraordinary pianist/singer and multi-instrumentalist, who, after having been trained both in classical music and jazz and earning success in the US as an R&B singer, now visits us with her solo singer/songwriter program.
Eva started to play the piano at the age of 5, became organist of an Austrian church with 14, subsequently forming a gospel choir with 15. After the piano she soon learned to play violin, flute and guitar, won music contests and started to tour in Europe as a jazz-vocalist at the age of 17. After finishing her musical studies she became member of several groups, already using Lylit as her stage-name.
Six years ago she has made a demo, completely on her own, and sent it to some of her favourite labels. To her surprise she got answer from the former Motown-chief Kedar Massenburg (patron of Erykah Badu and D’Angelo) in the form of a one-way ticket to New York City. The blue-eyed blonde soon became an honorary Afro-American, touring with soul and r&b stars as En Vogue, Keith Sweat or Joe.
How did she get then now to Opus? The answer is quite simple: when asked about some favourites, pianist David Helbock, after delivering one of the most successful concerts in the Austrian series of the club, replied with two names: the first was Andreas Schaerer (Helbock didn’t knew that Schaerer was already booked to perform a couple of weeks later on the stage of Opus). The other one was Eva Klampfer…
Tickets are available for 1500 HUF on the spot, in the national JEGYPONT network of Interticket and online at JEGY.HU.
Seating at the Opus jazz Club can only be guaranteed in case of a table reservation.
