- Balázs Cseh - drums
- Balázs Pecze - trumpet
The István Elek Quartet plays mainstream jazz: their program is a tribute to the great predecessors of the genre and their followers, naturally in the spirit of our present time and their own individual personalities. During his four-decade career, István Elek was a soloist for several orchestras, however, he debuted with his own quartet only recently, playing concerts with huge success since then all around Hungary. The leader plays a whole arsenal of reed instruments, mostly the tenor saxophone, but clarinet, alto, soprano and baritone saxophones appear as well in his hands during the concerts. In addition to the evergreens of the Great American Songbook, the quartet plays numerous titles of jazz giants like Kenny Barron, Joe Henderson or Joe Zawinul. This time they picj from the west coast and hard bop repertoire with their guest, the excellent trumpetist Balázs Pecze.
