István Gyárfás - guitar Marcell Tóth - piano Szabolcs Perjesi - bass guitar Tamás Hidász - drums Guest: Gábor Winand - vocals István Gyárfás (a.k.a. Gyafi), with his vivid playing and trademark hats, is an inevitable figure among Hungarian guitarists. To his new group, Gyafi & Friends, he recruited young talents and, partially on their influence, cut himself adrift from the usual acoustic sound of his former groups. Though his characteristic guitar-playing remains, the new group plays a significantly more youthful, Latin- and funky-based pop-jazz. Two of his partners, Marcell Tóth and Tamás Hidász, are students at the Jazz Department of Liszt Ferenc Music Academy; the latter was chosen as best drummer of Student Jazz Festival in Marosvásárhely (Târgu Mureş) in April 2013. Bass player Szabolcs Perjesi finished his studies at the Kőbánya Music Studio, and is a regular member of Kati Rácz’s group. Gyafi & Friends had a successful performance last year at the Blues Jazz Kamo Gala in Temesvár (Timişoara). Tickets are available for 1500 HUF on the spot, in the national JEGYPONT network of Interticket and online at JEGY.HU
