The Luís Vicente Trio is one of the most dynamic forces in contemporary Portuguese jazz, renowned for its adventurous spirit, emotional depth, and sonic experimentation. Led by trumpeter and composer Luís Vicente, the trio comprises Gonçalo Almeida on double bass and Pedro Melo Alves on drums, two of Portugal's most creative and versatile musicians. Together, they create a powerful musical dialogue that fluidly shifts between structure and freedom, lyricism and abstraction.

Having earned great acclaim with its captivating live performances and recordings that blur the lines between free jazz, contemporary improvisation and lyrical expression, the trio is now embarking on an exciting new phase, expanding to a quintet with two internationally renowned artists: pianist Leo Genovese and American saxophonist Tony Malaby.

This collaboration unites five distinctive voices, bound together by a shared openness and willingness to take risks. Genovese's boundless imagination and rhythmic vitality, combined with Malaby's rich tone and expressive phrasing, will add new levels of intensity and color to the trio's sound. The result promises to be an electrifying encounter, a conversation without boundaries, where Lisbon's vibrant creative energy meets the spirit of New York's avant-garde jazz scene.

Look forward to music that is spontaneous yet deeply connected, abstract yet soulful – a vibrant expression of the ongoing evolution of jazz.
