We appreciate your understanding:
Budapest Music Center

As a genuinely rare occasion, the highly influential world music band of the new millenium, Samsara will perform at the Opus Jazz Club. Samsara was founded in 2000 by well-known figures of Hungarian ethno jazz, violinist Zoltán Lantos, guitarist Gábor Juhász, and two authentic Indian percussionists, Péter Szalai and Iván Nyusztay. Both Lantos and Szalai spent several years in India, learning the traditional harmonies, rhythms, and instrumental technique. Lantos even had a special violin created with resonant strings. The rich timbre of the instrument is able to conjure the best qualities of the traditional violin as well as the sitar and the sarangi.

Samsara plays Indo-jazz, taking the elements and colors of Indian music and carrying them into the world of jazz. The quartet released their album Bindu in 2002 and toured in India, Egypt, and Central Europe.

On this special concert, tabla player Chirayu Bhole joins the band as the fourth member of the quartet, replacing Péter Szalai.
