Opus’ MOL-Jazz-Series, focusing on the European jazz scene, showcases this time one of the dominant acts of the Hungarian avant-garde jazz, the Grencsó Open Collective. The group, hosting European or other foreign musicians on their gigs and CDs quite often, carries the musical and spiritual legacy of the pianist-composer György Szabados, the worldwide renowned legendary figure of Hungarian improvised music, who passed 3 years ago. The saxophone player István Grencsó and his long-time buddy, the reliable and rock-solid bass player Róbert Benkő create a harmonic balance with the two outstanding representatives of the youngest Hungarian jazz generation. Composed and free, calm and exciting, melodic and atonal – each moment of their music is fascinating, as it is proven by their critically acclaimed recent BMC release, Flat.
This time the quartet, featured on European jazz stages regrettably only rarely, is rounded up to a sextet by Rudi Mahall from Germany, often mentioned as “the best bass-clarinettist of the world” and one of Europe’s most demanded viola player, Szilárd Mezei from Vojvodina.
Tickets are available for 1500 HUF on the spot, in the national JEGYPONT network of Interticket and online at a JEGY.HU.
Seating at the Opus jazz Club can only be guaranteed in case of a table reservation.
