  • Péter Fülöp - lecturer

Péter Fülöp, founder, owner and maintainer of the Gustav Mahler Sound Archive collects Mahler's recordings since 1970. Now he picks again from recordings of his favourite composer. His present lecture is comprised of two parts. First we can meet the first ever recording of Mahler's Symphony Nr. 8. When and where was it made? The answer is not that easy... In the second part we can watch a live recording of the First Symphony, a fascinating, unbelievable 2013 performance of Sir Simon Rattle and the National Children’s Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela in Salzburg.

“When I first conducted the Infantil Orchestra 3 years ago in Caracas, I could not believe that children as young as 9 and never older than 14 could not only play all the notes, but also could make such wonderful music. […] This is, quite simply, the future of music. Those of you lucky enough to hear the concerts will see why”. (Simon Rattle, Salzburg Festival)
