Grzegorz Karnas may be the most genuine contemporary Polish singer. As the winner of the Crest Jazz Vocal, the definitive international contest for vocalists, and as the star of the prestigious London Jazz Festival, he is increasingly gaining a well-deserved, international reputation. Two years ago, with four albums behind him, he visited Budapest for the first time to play at the Jazzforum Budapest. The gig of his Polish trio with guest appearance of Hungarian cimbalom player Miklós Lukács was so successful, that it soon was released on BMC Records, achieving later the four stars rank of French magazine Jazzman/Jazz magazine.
“Jumping forward to the future of jazz, Polish vocalist Grzegorz Karnas releases one of the most engaging experimental vocal jazz albums in years, Audio Bead. Karnas’ textured baritone is both gritty and cleanly smooth. A passionate and driving leader, who we will be hearing a lot about in the coming years, Karnas shapeshifts with all the instruments in his trio”, wrote Katie Bull about the album in The New York City Jazz Record, which chose it as one of the best vocal releases of 2013.
Since their first encounter, during several concerts in Hungary and in Poland, the musical friendship of the singer and cimbalom player grew deeper, so the decision of ongoing collaborations, in agreement with BMC Records and by the generous support of the Polish Institute, was inevitable. Their gig at the Opus in February was recorded and today’s concert is celebrating the release of its result, the album entitled Vanga.

Tickets are available for 1000 HUF on the spot, in the national JEGYPONT network of Interticket and online at JEGY.HU.
Seating at the Opus jazz Club can only be guaranteed in case of a table reservation.
