If someone wins the “best male singer” category of his country’s two most important music awards nine and twelve times, respectively, and if he sang a duet with Bobby McFerrin in Prague, then it surely can be officially declared that he, Dan Bárta, is “The Czech Jazz Singer”.

Visitors of the Opus Jazz Club can prove this without doubt, after experiencing the explosive gig of the singer with Robert Balzar’s trio in January. Today’s concert features his established quintet, Dan Bárta & Illustratosphere, on of the most renowned Czech groups working since more than a decade and a half. The program will feature mostly the quintet’s fifth CD, Maratonika, released recently.
