Leader of Fusio Group is the multi-awarded drummer, composer and arranger Péter Szendőfi, well-known from several different formations as well: he runs Loop-Doctors with Gary Willis since 2005, Transition with Róbert Szakcsi Lakatos since 2008, and is a former member of several Hungarian groups as Attila László Band, Áron Romhányi Trio, Birta Life Pictures, János Nagy Trio among others.
Fusio Group was formed in 1992, though called Fusio Quartet atthe time. From the beginning their style is marked by the jazz-fusion category, though with a repertoire which is rather eclectic on a wide scale: traditional arrangements are often mixed with progressive themes and harmonies. Following definitive American patterns of the electronic jazz they play a tight, driving music full of sharp and biting grooves.
The program of tonight’s concert is based on Soul Food, the fifth album of Fusio Group, released in the fall of last year at Tom Tom Records. The renowned group of Hungarian fusion-jazz is playing in their classical lineup: each musician is acknowledged soloist or studio musician of the genre.
