Joey Calderazzo Trio - A program of the Budapest Spring Festival
21:00
Opus Jazz Club
Sold out!
Joey Calderazzo – piano Orlando LeFleming – double bass Donald Edwards – drums
Joey Calderazzo’s trio – with drummer Donald Edwards and bassist Orlando le Fleming – have followed a systematic curve of development to become one of the most compelling formations in contemporary jazz. “It’s spur of the moment, rhythms being played, harmonies being changed, it’s not that old traditional thing of supporting the soloist then on from there. One night we might play a song as a bossa, then the next night as a ballad, it could be open with no time at all or as a fast jazz tune, there’s no preconceived notion. We have a constant dialogue. It’s me bouncing off the bass and the drums. I have ideas in my head but they’re changing on the spot via the drums and the bass. Musically, I like cornering yourself and trying to get out of it. You paint yourself into a corner and then figure a way to get out of it. That is the challenge with this trio,” says the bandleader.
Tickets are available for 1500 HUF in the box offices of the Palace of Arts, at the BMC, in the national JEGYPONT network of Interticket and online at JEGY.HU
Seating at the Opus jazz Club can only be guaranteed in case of a table reservation.
