Opus Jazz Club Jazz premieres in January

Debuts and world premiers abound at Opus Jazz Club in January 2019.

EurOpus | Daniel Erdmann's Velvet Revolution (DE/FR/UK)

The new year starts off with Daniel Erdmann's Velvet Revolution through a special world premiere concert on the 5th of January: After the huge German and international success of A Short Moment of Zero G, the trio's award-winning first album on BMC Records, they present their brand new material at Opus composed by band leader and saxophonist Daniel Erdmann. The premiere will be followed by the recording session of their second album at BMC Studio. Erdmann's Velvet Revolution is a happy meeting of three kindred spirits and a tonal specialty with French violinist extraordinaire Théo Ceccaldi and English percussion master Jim Hart (here solely on vibraphone).

Szabolcs Oláh Quintet: Crystal Brook (HU)

As prolific as ever, Szabolcs Oláh visits again on the 8th of January to perform his brand new compositions in his unique style of clarity. In his fresh quintet, a new rythm section (Tamás Klimász and László Csízi) gives the creative foundation to the stylish and smart improvisations which Szabolcs is well known for.

EurOpus | Pulcinella (FR)

Made out of four major actors of the Toulouse scene, Pulcinella is surprising by its high energy and fertile imagination. Recreating the commedia dell'arte of the 17th century with dynamic and extravagant music, the quartet returns to Opus on the 11th of January to perform their new album, which then will be recorded at BMC Records for a later release.

Andreas Schaerer & Kalle Kalima (CH/FI)

The extraordinary Swiss master of human voice, Andreas Schaerer, joined versatile Finnish guitarist Kalle Kalima to enchant the European jazz scene as a duo. It is safe to say that if you visit Opus on the 12th of January, magical moments are guaranteed.

 J(a)zz! | David Helbock's Random/Control (AT)
"Tour D'Horizon - From Brubeck to Zawinul"

On the 17th of january, David Helbock's Random/Control arrives to Opus with their one of a kind visual and sonic experience to perform their new ACT release: after Star Wars and Prince hits, the Austrian piano daredevil sets out to remake classic jazz milestone songs in his unique musical humour. With more than twenty instruments on stage, this will be accomplished in a rather spectacular way.
